Nowadays, all artists have the need to express themselves through art and culture. The socio-political events we are experiencing these days (wars, epidemics, pandemics, environmental pollution etc.) have given us the impetus to “defend” ourselves via our creativity and imagination. Through our artworks, we as artists express the world’s need for freedom, peace, unity and solidarity. We are all different but at the same time we are all the same. We must remain united. The focus of my artwork is children as it is well known that they define the future. Children symbolize peace, unity and innocence. The facemask that needs to be worn symbolize both the personal defense and love.As the ancient historian Herodotus stated: “No one is foolish enough to prefer war over peace. During times of peace children bury their parents, while during times of war parents bury their children.” Through unity and love, all the difficulties and hardships that humanity is going through today will be addressed. Children around the world ally with the ideas of peace, solidarity, love and unity which will lead the world to a better tomorrow, a new era. Art, then, is the means to convey this hopeful message, and I believe that if all artists unite as one soul and one voice, we will help spread these values.
