In making my artwork “A glimpse to the history” I was inspired by the significant role which the Silk Route, “the 4,500 Silk Route”, played in the development of the civilizations of the East and West, from China to the Mediterranean Sea. The painting is a glimpse to the history of people, nations and civilizations connected through that ancient network in a mutually “profitable” and creative relationship. A glimpse to that unique network of communication and of cultural and religious interactions among China, the Subcontinent, Persia, Europe, the Horn of Africa, Arabia, Turkey, Syria and Russia.
Making my artwork “East – West : Golden Dialogues” , I was inspired by the endless effort of the people in the East and West to “exploring” new territories, trading commercial materials, and establishing political and economic relations between civilizations. I tried to emphasize the human desire to discover new things, to conquer the “unknown” , to approach life in a different, more adventurous as well as creative way, for, in addition to economic trade, the Silk Route was and still is a very significant route to cultural and artistic interaction among the civilizations not only along its network but internationally.
In my artwork “Gold and Silk – Parallel Routes” I focus on Silk and Gold features, the two most prominent elements which come firstly to our mind when we think about the “Silk Route”. The silk element is presented in its primary stages as silkworms, cocoons etc., while the gold is mostly presented as bitcoins which have invaded our life lately. The profitable silk came from China and conquered the West while the gold still is the dominant feature in economy worldwide.
